*Requirements for a Next Generation GONG network: Forecasters' perspective*

Organizers: V. Martinez Pillet (NSO), A de Wijn (HAO), F. Hill (NSO), J.
Burkepile (HAO)

Friday August 9th, afternoon (at the end of the SHINE meeting), location
TBD

The Space Weather forecasting community is invited to attend an open
splinter two hours meeting to discuss the requirements (spatial
resolution, cadences, sensitivities, etc.) for a future global solar
synoptic network. This network is intended to replace the existing GONG
network and other single-site facilities around the world. The
discussion will be structured in four sections:

  *      Requirements on magnetic sensitivity
  *      Requirements on far side helioseismic imaging
  *      Requirements on high cadence narrow band imaging (H-alpha, He
    10830, etc.)
  *      Requirements on coronal observations

The discussion focuses on the forecaster's operational perspective and
will not emphasize at this point purely research-driven aspects.
However, the session is open to anyone interested in contributing.

More logistic information will follow soon. Please contact me if you
have questions.

Valentin
