Hubbard
Brook COS,
In
July, the Information Oversight Committee voted to move forward in
uploading the Hubbard Brook data to the central LTER data system
(PASTA). Access to our data through this system is now required by
LTER/NSF, and review panels are specifically tasked to evaluate
our data holdings via this LTER data portal.
Note that Hubbard Brook data have always been accessible through a
central LTER portal. The difference now is that the old system has
been retired, and this new more sophisticated system is in place.
Some
highlights of this new LTER data systems are:
1. rigorous testing and validation of data/metadata, which has
resulted in many improvements that are now in place on our local
website as well.
2. each
data revision generates a unique DOI, which will greatly improve
our ability to track the use of HB data. You will find the DOI
prominently displayed on the front page of each dataset.
3. In
addition, a citation is provided for each specific dataset.
Battles, John J.; Fahey, Tim (2015): Tree recruitment
data for the Hubbard Brook Valley Plots,
baseline data collected 1995 - 1998. Long Term
Ecological Research Network.
http://dx.doi.org/10.6073/pasta/eb72b40bb67337e171ee2ec5cffc59a6
4. All
earlier revisions of a data package are accessible through this
system.
Tracking
of data access through this system provides information on number
of downloads, and identity for LTER users that are logged on to
the system at the time of download. All Hubbard Brook data also
remains available for download through http://hubbardbrook.org
