On Wednesday October 15 two concurrent upgrades are scheduled:
Early morning (6-9am)
---------------------
RCC will shut down the Morse Hall network for approximately 3 hours
from 6am to 9am to upgrade the network backbone router. This outage
will affect all network traffic within Morse Hall, including
machines outside of the Lenharth Data Center. The new router will add
ipv6 functionally to our network.
Early Afternoon
---------------
Lack of cooling necessitates RCC power off all non-critical systems in
the data center for the duration of a chilled water outage.
Chilled water to the Lenharth Data Center will be turned off
while new valves are installed in preparation for a redundant Morse Hall
rooftop chiller. The value work is scheduled to start at 7am and
complete no later than 3pm (hopefully much earlier). Once chilled water
service to the LDC is restored RCC will bring all LDC hardware back
online. Valve installation is the first step in upgrading the Morse
Hall rooftop chiller to provide full redundancy for the Philbrook
Chiller plant. The remaining rooftop chiller work will occur in the
next few months and should not require additional downtime.
We apologize for the inconvenience, but scheduling downtime is better
than suffering from unscheduled failures. Email questions to
ops at sr.unh.edu
An alternate date of October 22 is planned if for any reason the work
can not be performed on the 15th.
