Dear community,

It is time to get ready for SHINE 2021.
Registration in now open with a deadline of July 19th, https://shinecon.org/pages/Registration.php<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fshinecon.org%2Fpages%2FRegistration.php&data=04%7C01%7Cteresa.nieves-chinchil-1%40nasa.gov%7C6a1cc57ea22a4ecb6bcc08d9326d5efb%7C7005d45845be48ae8140d43da96dd17b%7C0%7C0%7C637596267597015151%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C2000&sdata=4TkwNq6yrkbyGI5%2BVldKRzML5OIu3gnCiBNhZ1NYOig%3D&reserved=0>.
The meeting will be on-line. We will send the information and links for the Zoom and Gather.Town to registered participants in due time.

SHINE meeting: August 3-5, 2021, from 12pm to ~5:30pm ET daily
Student day: August 2, 2021 (only students and early-career researchers within 3 years of completing their PhD)
SHINE Schedule: https://shinecon.org/shine2021/SHINE2021_V4.pdf<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fshinecon.org%2Fshine2021%2FSHINE2021_V4.pdf&data=04%7C01%7Cteresa.nieves-chinchil-1%40nasa.gov%7C6a1cc57ea22a4ecb6bcc08d9326d5efb%7C7005d45845be48ae8140d43da96dd17b%7C0%7C0%7C637596267597015151%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C2000&sdata=GQM4P0TtLF5eN4JRHpE1cdcHylIY1GITZB4NMc887f8%3D&reserved=0>

This year the meeting will be focused on the big science questions that should be driving SHINE, the progress that has been made over the past twenty years, and the necessary changes to keep SHINE a successful workshop while increasing equity and inclusion and ensuring that the growth in participation is sustainable. The steering committee also feels that focusing on identifying the big questions is in line with the schedule of the upcoming Heliophysics decadal survey. As such, there will not be any focused research discussion outside of the posters.

Posters: Only students and early-career researchers (ECRs, up to PhD + 3 years) are eligible to submit abstract and present posters. There are poster sessions scheduled daily as well as a student poster competition. We expect gathertown to be open outside of the poster session times allowing for more interactions. As students and ECRs have had few opportunities to present their research during the past 18 months of remote meetings, the SHINE steering committee and student representatives decided that this would provide the most opportunities for students and ECRs to build their scientific network.

Cost: Registration is set up at $50 until July 19th and $100 afterwards.

All students and early-career researchers (up to PhD + 3 years) are eligible for fee waiver by registering through: https://shinecon.org/pages/StudFinSupAppSub.php<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fshinecon.org%2Fpages%2FStudFinSupAppSub.php&data=04%7C01%7Cteresa.nieves-chinchil-1%40nasa.gov%7C6a1cc57ea22a4ecb6bcc08d9326d5efb%7C7005d45845be48ae8140d43da96dd17b%7C0%7C0%7C637596267597015151%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C2000&sdata=DcJKpe3NuWyrzJ3Levi8thUg1g6C3zfHASKsI6A3%2B6Q%3D&reserved=0>

Wishing you all had a happy summer solstice,

Teresa Nieves and Noé Lugaz
