Dear SHINE Community,

We are requesting proposals for sessions for the 2020 SHINE workshop. Note that we will have a joint day with GEM following the SHINE workshop completion. We are not presently requesting session proposals for this joint day.

1. Call for Session Proposals for the 2020 SHINE Workshop (Deadline: Jan 17)
This year, we are requesting session proposal through an online google form. The deadline is 2020 January 17.

2. SHINE 2019 Session Survey
This year, we decided to have a form-based “progress and prospect” of the sessions held in 2019. If you are planning to submit a related session proposal for 2020, filling this form is especially important. One of the goals of this form is to communicate these answers to next year’s relevant session organizers and scene setters to ensure that discussion at SHINE moves forward towards answering some of the science questions. Please fill the form at the following link:

Please, keep it brief (bullet points are enough), but just think about what you would have like to know ahead of your session this year in terms of what happened at previous SHINE workshops.

3. New SHINE Personnel
After this past SHINE Workshop, Georgia A. de Nolfo rotated off her role as the SHINE steering committee chair and Greg Howes rotated off as a steering committee member. We’d like to thank them both for their excellent service to SHINE these past three years. We have had three very successful and extremely well attended workshops and a lot of the credit goes to Georgia for the successful “steering” of our community towards even more discussion-based sessions. Due to Teresa Nieves-Chinchilla and myself having joined as steering committee members due to our role as workshop coordinator and steering committee chair, respectively, we only welcome one additional member of the steering committee this year. Please join me in welcoming our newest SHINE Steering Committee member: Gang Li (UAH).

Sincerely,

Noé Lugaz
SHINE Steering Committee Chair
