Hello All,

Recently I requested to have some structural issues in the barn at HBEF addressed. To have this work done I needed to have an engineer evaluate the entire structure. The engineer determined that the building does not have capacity to deal with the current floor loading.

What does this mean? Until the barn is repaired, or replaced we are no longer allowed to store any materials in the barn except for the lower level that is on a concrete slab. We are not allowed to have meetings, dinners and dances in the barn as well.

The staff at HBEF has been sorting material to recycle and dispose of. If you have any materials stored in the barn please contact me so we can ensure it does not go into the dumpster, and we can make arrangements for you to pick it up. We will have a big storage problem so we will not be storing any non-Forest Service materials.

Hopefully we find funds to repair or replace the barn.

Ian
