Dear Hubbard Brook COS,
As you know, the US Government has been officially shutdown. Please accept this notification of the following:
1.
Hubbard Brook Headquarters building is closed and locked.
2.
The Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest is open. You can access your research sites by snow mobile, ski, snowshoe, or foot. However, please be aware that there is no safety back up or technical assistance available from Forest Service
staff at Headquarters.
3.
Arrangements have been made for the CIES and HBRF staff to continue their operations based from Pleasant View.
4.
Ian Halm is our ‘exempt’ staff member. He is available in case of
emergency. You can contact him at ihalm@fs.fed.us or his cell 603 397 7966.
5.
The RealTime data will be unavailable because the program runs on a government computer, which will be shut down. (data continue to be collected).
6.
All Forest Service staff (other than Ian Halm) and scientists are on furlough and unavailable until the government reopens.
Respectfully,
Lindsey Rustad
