Good Afternoon Everyone,

I hope the end of the year has been treating you all well! I am forwarding
the Entering Mentoring Facilitator Training information recently
shared by the LTER Network Office. Please feel free to share this *great
opportunity* to anyone that may be interested:

Recruitment is now open for *Entering Mentoring Facilitator Training* on
April 11-12 and July 23-24, 2024 from 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, hosted by the Center
for the Improvement of Mentored Experiences in Research (CIMER)

*Facilitating
Entering Mentoring* is a two-day “train-the-trainer” workshop designed to
increase the capacity for research mentor trainings offered at colleges and
universities, research institutes, and governmental organizations.

During this workshop, participants are introduced to *Entering Mentoring*

form (this training is not a substitute for the full Research Mentor
Training) a mentor training curriculum series that addresses the following
themes: aligning expectations, addressing equity and inclusion,
articulating your mentoring philosophy and plan, assessing understanding,
cultivating ethical behavior, enhancing work-life integration, fostering
independence, maintaining effective communication, promoting mentee
research self-efficacy, and promoting professional development. Workshop
participants become familiar with the curricula, practice facilitating
training components, and develop a plan for implementing the training at
their institution or organization.

*Participants are…*

   1. Faculty, instructors, staff, or administrators.
   2. Working with mentors whose trainees are undergraduate students,
   graduate students, postdocs, or junior faculty. Our workshop materials are
   currently optimized for use across science, technology, engineering,
   mathematics, and medicine fields.
   3. Committed to implementing research mentor training workshops at their
   institution or organization within the next year.

*Registration Details:*

   - Registration is $2200 per participant and includes workshop materials
   plus a light breakfast, lunch, and snacks on both days. This workshop is
   limited to 32 participants. Priority will be given to participants with
   funding/grant obligations with CIMER.
   - We encourage participants to attend with a colleague but not required.
   No more than three from the same institution will be accepted. Each
   individual or representative must register for each spot. Registration is
   first come first served through the payment site.
   - The deadline to register is six weeks prior to the workshop, and is on
   a first-come, first-served basis. **If the workshop is full, you will see a
   message on the payment site to join the waitlist.**CIMER will contact
   waitlisted individuals if spots become available up to three weeks before
   the workshop.
   - *To view available spots and register, complete the following steps:*
      - *Step 1:* Pay the registration fee for an open session (a
      confirmation from the payment site will be sent via email which will be
      your receipt). You or your representative can pay for yourself, another
      participant, or note someone else will be paying on your behalf.

      - *Step 2:* Once payment has been made you will receive a
      confirmation email from the payment site, and you will receive an email
      from CIMER with a link to a google participant questionnaire within two
      weeks. You will need to upload a professional photo or headshot
as well as
      a brief bio (max 250 words) describing your title, research focus,
      mentoring experience, and interest in facilitating mentor training. This
      information will be shared with workshop participants during the training.

representative will redirect your question if needed. A separate
recruitment email will be sent for the August 14-15, 2024, Facilitator
Training for Institutional Teams (3-5 participants per team).
