Dear Colleagues,

You will shortly receive an invitation to vote for *one candidate* to serve
a three-year term on the Hubbard Brook Science Coordinating Committee. We
are using Survey Monkey to conduct the balloting. The votes will be
anonymous and the order of the list of candidates will be randomized for
each view of the ballot. The invitation will come from me (
jbattles at berkeley.edu).

Please vote by March 11.

The role of the SCC is described below (from LTER proposal).

Please contact me if you have questions.

John

The Hubbard Brook Ecosystem Study is governed by a Committee of Scientists
(COS), which consists of the core group of active PI-level scientists
working at the site (currently 67 members). A Scientific Coordinating
Committee (SCC) functions as an executive committee for the COS, providing
leadership, vision, and coordination. The SCC has seven members: four
elected by the COS, the Lead Scientist for the Forest Service HB project,
the Executive Director of the Hubbard Brook Research Foundation, and the PI
of the HBR-LTER grant. There is also one non-voting external advisor,
currently Ivan Fernandez of the University of Maine. The SCC elects a chair
from within its membership and appoints members to three standing
committees (Education and Outreach, Information Management, and Research
Approval), as well as *ad hoc* committees constituted as needed
