Dear Hubbard Brook Collaborators:
If you are certain that you will attend the LTER All-Scientists meeting in October and are interested in the communications training described below, please let me know right away. Our site is allowed to nominate two people for the training.
Please
1) include a brief (1-2 sentence) statement of why you think this session will be helpful to you,
2) and also indicate whether you prefer the Wednesday or Thursday session.
I need to know of your interest by the end of the day on Monday, June 4.
Thanks!
Gary

Communications Trainings
We are contracting with the Alan Alda Center to offer 2 one-day trainings (one on Wednesday and one on Thursday) during the ASM. Their approach is highly participatory, not at all didactic, very fun, and very effective. They can accommodate 16 people in each training, which gives us one per site, plus a couple of floaters.
The Wednesday training will mean foregoing one day of workshops, but will not entail any additional expenses. The Thursday training is independent of the meeting, but will require an extra day of lodging, so sites or individuals will be asked to pick up that night if they choose the Thursday training.
I know there is more demand for communications training than we are able to accommodate with this plan. Please know that we are also planning several communications-related workshops throughout the meeting.
Participants can include PI's, mid- or early-career investigators, grad students or IMs or Ed/Outreach Managers -- anyone who needs and wants to improve their connection with diverse audiences.
