Subject: Sun Setting of the Events Management System (aka eVents/EMS)

On behalf of Ken LaValley, Leigh Anne Melanson, Kerry Scala, Dan McLeod, and Paul DeMello.
This note is to inform the UNH community that UNH IT, Cooperative Extension and the Research Computing Center are developing a plan for the retirement of the Events Management System (aka eVents/EMS).

EMS was developed by the Research Computing Center to meet a variety of requirements identified through a formal needs assessment process. Since the product went live in 2005 it has processed over $42MM from 19,000 events and 600,000 individual registrations. Now, over a decade later, a replacement is necessary that will: a) meet the changing needs of event creators, b) provide an enhanced user experience, c) leverage modern technology, d) ensure a platform that is in compliance with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS), and e) integrates with other enterprise systems within the UNH Ecosystem.

Two user groups, UNH Summer Camps and Professional Development & Training, have led the migration from Events to Destiny One. The Destiny One (D1) platform has been operational for over a year. D1 is a modern events management solution that was purchased to serve the unique needs of UNH. This platform is being managed through Cooperative Extension and is UNH’s solution for all events that charge a fee. The migration of all for fee events to D1 is ongoing; progress updates will be regularly communicated. Training and Support services are being coordinated through Cooperative Extension.

EMS is also used to coordinate and schedule events that do not require payment. We are undertaking an effort to identify those tools and services currently in use within UNH. The goal will be to identify a platform(s) and services that will allow us to serve this population.

Further communications will be forthcoming; if you have questions or concerns please contact
