Hello—
I saw the eclipses of 1976 (Washington), 1991 (Oaxaca), and 2017 (Missouri); I deeply regret that I will not be able to share this one with my family, but I sincerely hope that you all are able to find clear skies! And look around as well as up; the alien spectacle replacing the bright sun in the sky is memorable, but so is the reaction of the living world around you as evening suddenly comes and as suddenly departs. For those of you doing outreach activities, I ran into a question online as to whether total solar eclipses like this happen at any other planet in our solar system, so I ran the numbers and put some discussion up on one of my websites (https://www.libration.org/eclipse.shtml), if it’s of any use to you.
Clear skies!
