Update:
after discussing the issue we decided that we can avoid quotas by moving all home directories to the lustre file system.
This will require a shutdown of Trillian. It will happen within the next few weeks, and Tom will announce
the shutdown date well in advance. In the mean time, please exercise restraint using the /home directories.
A 100% full /home will likely kill jobs.

To all Trillian users:
The head node and the /home directory are not meant to for any kind of computation or to store application files,
just for keeping your configuration files, source codes, compiling, managing files etc.
Since there are only 37G space on /home and likely up to 100 users I ask Tom Baker to impose a soft quota of 200 MB and a hard
quota of 300 MB for all user accounts. Users should also note that /home is not (and will never be) backed up.
If that disk dies, so do your files. By contrast, /mnt/lustre/lus0 is highly redundant and much less likely to fail.
