I wanted to call your attention if you have a student that might be interested in participating in the upcoming summer school.
2014 BU 2nd Summer School in Plasma Processes, July 28-August 1, 2014,
Boston University
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Applications are invited for the 2014 BU Summer School in Plasma Processes,
to be held at the Boston University during July 28-August 1, 2014. The summer
school will offer an intensive one-week course in the most challenging plasma
processes in space physics. This summer school gives continuation to the
successful one that took place in 2012 (for link for the old presentations:
http://www.bu.edu/csp/edoutreach/plasma-summer-school-2012/)
The school is appropriate to graduate and advanced undergraduate students
interested in solar and space physics, and who may wish to pursue a career in
space physics, solar physics or related fields. New postdoctoral researchers
are also welcome to apply.
Active scientists working will give lectures in the major topics in plasma in
space physics. Topics to be covered include reconnection, turbulence, kinetic
instabilities and shocks. Please check the schedule link for an updated
schedule.
On the last day, there will be a round table of discussion by women
scientists working in space physics and astronomy.
The summer school is supported in part by The National Science Foundation
(NSF). Approximately 30 students will be selected to attend. Women and
members of minority and other under-represented groups are strongly
encouraged to apply. Each student will receive a stipend to cover travel and
local expenses.
Interested students should send completed applications with requested
documents by April 30, 2014 to Prof. Merav Opher @
mopher@bu.edu
