HI folks,
To clarify with regard to the REU site (new
information since last time Lindsey and I spoke), we have been told that we
could hear any time between late December and late March about the REU
site. Once they told us this we decided to move forward advertising and
recruiting, but if we have not heard definitively about funding by the time
applications are due and need to be reviewed we will defer the start of the
program for a year.
It's a tough spot to be in. Two of the three
possible outcomes of the proposal (rejection or being funded too late in the
year) would lead to no site program in 2016, but there is still a reasonable
chance that the third possibility (being funded before early February) will
happen so we have to move forward. It was a good proposal, after
all.
HBRF is submitting an RAHSS, and we have the two
REUs in the LTER budget. One is going to the veg crew and the other is yet
to be decided.

Subject: [HubbardBrookCOS] NSF Supplements - Due Dec
1
Dear COS,
We are wondering who else is applying for NSF REU, RET, ROA,
or RAHSS supplements with their NSF grants. It is my understanding that we
will not have a site REU next summer, but we may still have a critical mass of
REU’s to build a community, which may be useful to say in our supplement
proposals. It will also be useful to apply for or plan space at PVF, if
this space will even be available?
We are considering:
ISE: 1 REU, 1 RET and maybe 1 ROA
Waterviz EAGER: 2 REUs and 1 RET
Best,
Lindsey (on behalf of the ISE and Waterviz
Teams)
