Position: Summer Field Technician

Location: Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest, New Hampshire

Duration: Approximately late May through August 2015

 

A summer field technician position is available at the Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest in North Woodstock, New Hampshire. The successful candidate will work on a collaborative ice storm research project funded by the National Science Foundation. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a better understanding of the impacts of ice storms on northern hardwood forest ecosystems. The employee will work as a member of a field crew that will initiate monitoring for a plot-scale ice storm experiment. The work will entail locating and establishing plots, inventorying vegetation, installing sensors and sampling equipment, and collecting samples. The field work will be physically demanding and involves hiking off trail, carrying equipment and supplies, spending long hours in the field, and working in inclement weather.  Housing at the field station dormitory will be provided.

 

Qualification: Minimum of enrollment in undergraduate institution.  Coursework in forestry, ecology, soil science, or related fields desired.
