Hello all, As many of you have heard the Hubbard Brook Experimental forest has lost its membership in the Man and the Biosphere Program. I am the site representative for this program so I wanted to clear up what has happened.

During the time Hubbard Brook has been a member there has been minimal annual reporting required to continue membership. This changed last year at the same time Nick Grant left for another position. The reporting became so complicated that a training session was offered in Colorado for the site managers. Funding was not available through the Forest Service for the travel, and I did not have time to leave with my dual role at Hubbard Brook. I talked with the US national coordinator and I was given the option to withdraw from the program permanently or to request to leave the program with the option to reapply. I took the second option with input from Forest Service leadership.

I plan to reapply for Hubbard Brook’s membership this fall. There are many other sites that are in the same positon.

If anyone has further questions about this please contact me. Ian
